10 Halloween Movies Suitable For Young Children

10 Halloween Movies Suitable For Young Children

Halloween is not only for grown ups. I see Halloween has two different sides. One for the adults. The scary, creepy, gory or minimal outfits. The freaky decorations & the terrifying movies.

The one for the children. The cute little outfits, witches, bats, pumpkins. The trick or treating, and sweet eating. The bright colourful decorations. But there aren't often Halloween themed movies that are aimed at children. I wanted to compile a list of various movies that are suitable, for the little poppets to watch on Halloween. To get into the spirit, without getting scared! Don't forget to bake or buy some delicious snacks too. Movie night isn't movie night without snacks!

10 Halloween Movies Suitable For Young Children

My little ones are still little, my youngest is too little for trick or treating even. So on Halloween night, we might just snuggle down with popcorn and a child friendly film!

Updated - There are now technically 13 movies to choose from! (I've also found out where most of them are available to watch too).

Pooh's Heffalump Halloween Movie
What little ones don't like a bit of Winnie The Pooh? What adults don't like to reminisce back to their childhood. Winnie The Pooh is so adorable. There's nothing horrible, sad, mean or anything about it. I've recently introduced it to my little ones, and I'm happy to say they like it as much as me! Haha.

It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
Another holiday themed Peanuts special, it's the perfect movie for little ones. It's not quite as cute & cuddly as Winnie The Pooh, but it's still great. The Peanuts gang celebrating Halloween!

The Addams Family
This animated reboot is freaking hilarious! Seriously we watched it on repeat when it first came out and we were all in hysterics! It's a really fun, silly movie for the whole family, and not even a bit scary just creepy and kooky.

Wallace & Gromit - The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit
Everyone loves a bit of Wallace & Gromit! The animation is still as brilliant as ever, and this film is fantastic. It's great for little ones, but it's good for grown ups too. There's a few funny jokes in there, that the kids won't get, but you'll be chuckling to yourself quietly.

Hotel Transylvania 1/2/3
We love these movies! We have watched these, probably the same time last year and I really want to watch them again this year! They're all funny, a little bit silly, totally Halloweeney, and completely family friendly without being childish.

Monsters Inc
Now this isn't as Halloween themed, but hey, it's about Monsters!
I don't really know what to say about this movie, but if you haven't seen it, GO WATCH IT.
It's such a classic Disney Pixar movie.

Scooby Doo
I actually watched this at the cinema, and I got a little scared. I didn't really know what to expect with a remake of the classic TV show, but it is a good movie! I love Rowan Atkinson in it! Possibly slightly more scary than the above films, but still suitable for kids!

The Nightmare Before Christmas
THIS IS HALLOWEEN. THIS IS HALLOWEEN.
THIS IS THE PERFECT HALLOWEEN MOVIE.
Oh the songs, the animation. It's perfect. Tad creepy, but perfect.

Coraline
Even though this film is animated, in my opinion this is the scariest movie on this list!
I read the book originally and couldn't wait for the film to come out. It's so freaky, weird & awesome. My older two are completely obsessed with it and they're 5 & 6!

Corpse Bride
Ahh Tim Burton. He was so going to be on this list wasn't he. Sadly this is not one of his most popular films, but it sure is one of my favourite. The songs in this movie are just perfect. You'll love it , definitely worth watching.

Casper
Such a classic. I remember watching the cartoon tv show when I was really little, and then watched this when I was a bit older. I got spooked the first time! I think it's Casper's uncles who scared me! Haha.

What will you be watching with your children over Halloween?
