Growing Older & Taking A Break

Growing older scares us, I know it did used to scare me , but it's going to happen. Ignoring or not planning for the future isn't really going to work in the long-term. As a society we are very much, bury our head in the sand until the time comes, but we shouldn't be.
There's nothing to worry about as long as we plan ahead, look after our families and grow older happily. One thing I have always worried about is, who will care for me when I am unable to care for myself properly. I hope that my amazing children will care for me, but caring for someone is a 24 hour job. I wouldn't want to be a burden on them and everyone deserves a break now and then. That's where I think respite care would be a fantastic idea. Respite care is a short stay, planned or unplanned in a care home. Giving your carers a bit of well deserved time off, or perhaps giving you the chance to step out of your everyday routine and relax in the care of others.

Everyone deserves a break now and then, a bit of time off from doing the same things day in and day out. It's natural, it's human. There's nothing wrong with taking a step back and asking for help.

If you are interested in hearing more about respite care, Barchester Healthcare have created a really useful guide.
