Guilty Pleasure Movies

We all have those movies we don't like to admit we secretly love. The ones that you watch when you need a pick me up, or watch with your partner (but they're not allowed to tell anyone you like it)! I wanted to share a little list of my cheesy movies that I probably should be embarrassed about loving!

Capturing Moments #23

The sun has actually been out! Hooray! Well it is April, and April tends to be our warmest month in the UK. Or at least it has been for the last few years. We decided to take advantage of the sun, so for Mother's Day, as we didn't really have anything planned myself and the little ones decided to go on a picnic. It was so lovely, and so much fun!

Thank you to everyone who links up to Capturing Moments & all those who stop by to read the fab posts week after week. Quick & Easy Spring DIY's

I've said it before, and i'll say it again. I love updating my home for the changing seasons. Spring is my second favourite season, it just makes me think of bright, sunny, happy days. Pretty flowers, and lots of colour. I wanted to make some quick Spring inspired to update my home, so here we have;

Mother's Day Picnic

For Mother's Day this year, it was just going to be myself & our two little ones. We didn't have a lot of money to spend but the sun was out, and we decided to go on a picnic! I packed some sandwiches, drinks and fruit in our little coolbag and we headed out. We didn't want to really go too far, so we headed to our secret place!

What To Do This Easter In Somerset 2017

There's always a lot going on in Somerset during Easter! It's something we seem to take very seriously! Depending on where you are, and what sort of thing you are hoping to do, I'm sure there's something here you'd love!

My Sunday Photo #11 - Happy Mothers Day

This may not be the best quality photo, but it's a happy one. A lovely bedtime snuggle with my two little ones. Happy Mother's Day!

My Favourite Moments As A Mum - So Far

In celebration of Mother's Day tomorrow, I wanted to share some of my favourite moments as a mum so far. Just a few little moments that I will treasure forever. I know I will have forgotten some, and many more moments that have yet to come.

Most Relatable Movie Mums

As it's Mother's Day this weekend, I wanted to write a post based on movie mums! I couldn't really do a list of the best mothers as there are so many, and they all have their good and bad qualities. So I wanted to do a different sort of post, about the mums in movies that are most relatable to me.

So here goes, in no particular order.

Claire - Date Night

Claire (Tina Fey) and her husband (Steve Carrell) are a typical married couple. Their days consist of sorting out the little ones, going to work, taking care of the little ones and being too tired to do anything else, so just go to bed early. Any married couple can totally relate to them. When you get stuck in a routine, you just don't feel like you have the time or energy to do anything else. Especially get dressed up and go out together.

Wendy - What To Expect When You're Expecting

I love this movie, and it is totally relatable, if you're looking at the right person. Wendy (Elizabeth Banks) is the most true to life pregnant woman ever in a movie. She shows it how it really is (if a bit exaggerated). Sweaty, grumpy, always needing a wee. Going a bit crazy, lots of cravings and walking like a penguin. Haha.

Holly - Life As We Know It

This is such a good movie. Holly (Katherine Heigl) adopts a baby, alongside this guy who she doesn't really like, and their parenting styles really clash. It's so true because everyone has an idea of what sort of parent they want to be. How they want to bring up their children, but the truth is, it's not always exactly the same as your partner! You have to work together, and combine your parenting styles to be the best parent you can be. Some of the most relatable scenes in this movie include, 'not realising you're covered in poop', 'trying to teach your little one to walk' & 'struggling to get your little ones to eat anything'.

Kate - I Don't Know How She Does It

This woman (Sarah Jessica-Parker) is the most relatable in the way that she tries to do everything. A big career that takes up a lot of time, as well as taking care of two school age children. School bake sales, illnesses brought home from school, work work work, a million and one things to do, and she just can't. It's so relatable because she has so many things going on in her head, a million and one lists on the go. Not being able to fall asleep because she can't switch off and stop thinking about all the things she has to do!

Karen - Love Actually

I love Emma Thompson in this movie. She's so good. Spending her days making obscure costumes for her children's school play, or deciding which peculiar doll her daughter's friend would like. It's so relatable because, you'd do anything for your little ones. Even turn them into a paper mache lobster.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As usual, I asked a few other bloggers which movie mums they felt were most relatable to them! They have given some great answers!

"The Mum from home alone, I only have four kids but every time I leave the house, I check the car to make sure I've not left one behind! ... I only did once" @ Kerry Shaw Mummy Of Four

"I like to think I'm Molly Weasley but I'm probably more Mrs Banks!" @ Confessions Of A Slummy Mummy

"Mrs Doubtfire?" @ Bad Dadu (Hahaha)

"Mrs Incredible (obviously!) I think that character is pretty much spot on when it comes to most of us " @ Mummy & Moose

"My very first thought was Molly Weasley too! And then Karen from Love Actually. (Without the cheating husband thankfully!) But I think in reality I'm far less chilled then her." @ Pink Pear Bear

"I watched Bad Mums last night for the first time and really related to Kiki! Manic home manic kids, always trying to be a good mum and not knowing anyone but then getting some mum friends and going out again and it's been amazing xx" @ Wafflemama

If you are a mum, which movie mother do you think you most relate to?
Or which movie mum does your mum most remind you of?

Capturing Moments #22

We've mostly been indoors this week, making lots of Spring, Mother's Day & Easter crafts! At the weekend though we visited Puxton Park! We've been there so many times but it's such good value and so much to see & do! There's outdoor play equipment, indoor slides, lots of animals and even a train. Definitely worth a visit if you are nearby!
(My little ones are in need of a haircut I think! Haha)

DIY Lavender & Oat Body Wash

Oats have amazing benefits for your skin. Not only are they fantastic for sensitive or eczema prone skin, but they are super softening and help tackle oily skin. If you use whole oats in your skin care, they can act as a natural exfoliant too. For this DIY I will be using oat infused water. Lavender oil is one of the most versatile essential oils. It's relaxing, helps improve eczema, and even has powerful antioxidants. That's why a lavender & oat body would be perfect for those with sensitive, dry or eczema prone skin.

Mindfulness In Parenting

Mindfulness is focusing on the present, being conscious and aware during that particular moment. Acknowledging and accepting your feelings & thoughts, as well as those around you. Mindfulness can help us appreciate and enjoy life more, by understanding ourselves better. Parenting can be hard, and by enjoying and embracing mindfulness, it can help you all lead a happier, calmer more relaxed family life.

We were recently given the opportunity to read and review an excellent book written by Amber Hatch titled 'Mindfulness For Parents'. Amber is a writer, teacher, mother & a childminder, so it's safe to say she knows what she's talking about. In the book she describes (better than me) what mindfulness is, and how it will help you during the challenges of parenthood.

Homemade Mother's Day Gift Ideas

I love receiving homemade gifts! They just mean a lot more to me than shop bought. The giver has put a lot of effort into creating something you'll love, and no one else will have the same gift! As well as receiving homemade gifts, I love making gifts for others. Spending time thinking of ideas, working hard to create something the receiver will love. I wanted to share with you some lovely ideas for gifts you could make for your mum this Mother's Day! I hope you find some inspiration!

Help Your Little Ones To Sleep With Johnsons

Getting your little ones to sleep through the night has got to be one of the biggest struggles we deal with as a new parent. You need your sleep, you need your little one to sleep. When they don't sleep, well..neither do you. It's tough. There are lots of ways you can help your little ones though, and hopefully make bedtime a whole lot easier for you both.

My Sunday Photo #10 - Muddy Woodland Walk

When we cant think of anything to do, we like to go on walks and explore the town we live in! The last walk we went on we found a new secret place! We discovered a hidden footpath that led on muddy woodland walk and found this super cute bridge looking over the river. They loved watching the river flow by.

The Best Singing Scenes In Movies!

I've been lacking a bit of inspiration lately, mainly when it comes to lists! I know right, who can't write a list! But thanks to Laura for this awesome idea! Last week I wrote Amazing Dance Scenes from movies, if you haven't read it, you so should. It'll make your day I promise! This week is along the same lines, but this time it's the best singing scenes in movies! Like before I will not be including any musicals in this list, just to keep it fair. Hope you enjoy, and I challenge you not to sing along!

Capturing Moments #21

It finally feels like Spring is here! We played in the garden on Monday! Planted some seeds, played in the sandpit. I'm so glad the sun is here at last. We went for a muddy walk the other day, and found a pathway we had never been down. It was so worth it. We discovered this cute woodland footpath with a secret bridge at the end! Secret hidden places are always the most fun!

DECHOX Diaries - Week Two

If you don't already know, I signed up for DECHOX for the whole of March. It's to raise money for the British Heart Foundation to help fund it's life saving research. It means no chocolate bars, no chocolate cake, no hot chocolate, no chocolate cereal.

I fear I might go crazy from lack of chocolate. HELP ME. If you don't know what a huge chocoholic I am, let me tell you. I regularly eat a whole pack of chocolate biscuits a night. Or in the period leading up to Easter, when my arch nemesis is around, the CREME EGG, I can easily eat 5+ of them in one sitting.

This month is going to be a real struggle for me, but I've already had a lot of support, and donations, so I am determined to do this. Even if it's just to prove to myself, I can survive without chocolate. I can can't I?!

Living Room Wishlist

I really want to sort out our house this year. Get each room just the way we want it, just simple touches here and there can really make a room.

I love a cosy, comfy, relaxing living room so that's the kind of theme I am aiming for. I created this wishlist of a few items that I feel would make our living room perfect. A relaxing place to get all comfy, snuggle down with a hot cuppa and a movie on the tv.

#PassTheStoryOn with Tesco

We were recently given the opportunity to review a couple of books from Tesco Direct. The idea was to sit down and read the books with your little ones a few times, and ask them what their favourite parts of the story were (or my favourite parts!) and write it down to share with others. We'd then #PassTheStoryOn to another family, who would then be able to share what they loved, and like before pass it on again. In the end, the books will be donated to a local UK charity.

My Sunday Photo #9 - Blossom

Spring is on its way! We have this tree outside our front door, that is always covered in blossom when spring is here. It's so beautiful.

Amazing Dance Scenes In Movies

When I was writing my 80's Movies you need to watch post, I kept remembering all the amazing dance scenes! I really wanted to write this post, listing my favourite dance scenes in movies! In this list, I will not be including dance scenes from dance themed movies though, just to keep it fair!

Capturing Moments #20

On Monday it really felt like Spring was here. The sun was shining, the wind was blowing. Daffodils & blossom covered trees! We went to a toddler & tots play group, and on the way back we decided to go on a nature walk! Collecting twigs, leaves, flowers (that had fallen on the floor already!). We then went home and made nature collages!

11 Easy Ways To Give To Charity

There are a huge number of ways we can help charities, including lots that don't involve breaking the bank. There are lots of options and plenty of ways to give back, help others for free. I wanted to share a bit of inspiration today, a list of ways we can support others. There are no excuses anymore. No reason why you cant be charitable in your everyday life. Doing fun things, living your life and you can give back, support others and simply make the world a bit brighter.

Book Of The Month - The Very Hungry Caterpillar

I started this series last year, well I said I started it, but I actually did one post and forget to photograph the others! So I'm starting it over again! Book Of The Month is where my little ones & I focus on one book each month, read it, watch it (if possible) and do fun activities based on it!

The book for March is the good old classic, The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle!

My Sunday Photo #8 - Spring Walk

We went for a quick walk the other day as the sun was actually shining! It's been so miserable and rainy here for the past few days, but it actually feels like Spring is on it's way! The little ones often cuddle each other when they're sat in the pushchair together, it's so adorable.

Big Blog Birthday Giveaway!

It was actually my 2 year blog birthday last month, but I decided to leave it until March to get celebrating! Any of you have been following my blog from the beginning, the real beginning will know my blog is actually a lot older than 2 years. I infact created this blog 7 years ago! SEVEN! That's seems crazy to me! But the reason why it's only the 2 year blog birthday is because I have officially been properly taking my blog seriously, working hard on it and writing new content regularly for 2 years now. So you could say it's been 2 years since I revamped and restarted. Nevertheless, I am celebrating a blog birthday with 3 giveaways! Yes THREE!

80's Movies You Need To Watch Like Right Now

The 80's produced some of my favourite movies of all time. They are just such classic films. The gorgeous crazy outfits, the amazing dance moves. I definitely should have been born in the 80's. Movies today are just not the same. Remakes, revamps, sequels and films based on books or games. Safe bets. They definitely don't make movies like they used to. Today myself, and some other bloggers are going to be sharing some of the 80's movies you need to watch. Asap.

Celebrating World Book Day With Scholastic

World Book Day is such an exciting event if you have children (perhaps even if you dont!). I don't remember it being such a popular day when I was a child! I love the enthusiasm and excitement that is poured into making this day special. Dressing up, purchasing new books & even exchanging old books! It's a great way to get children inspired & happy to read books. If you're not celebrating World Book Day, here's 5 fab reasons why you should be!

Capturing Moments #19

The weathers been a bit rubbish this week, and we've been struggling a bit moneywise this week, so we haven't been up to much. In February we visited the smallest city in England, Wells! So that's my post that I am linking up today. If you didn't know, Wells is also the home of Hot Fuzz!

Thank you to everyone who links up to Capturing Moments & all those who stop by to read the fab posts week after week. Health & Helping Others

I decided I need to take better care of myself recently. To eat better, to actually exercise, generally just be healthier because truthfully I am far from it. I mean we don't eat takeaways every night, we do eat fairly healthy home cooked meals every day, but I do eat chocolate every single night without a doubt!

As well as taking better care of myself, I decided I wanted to do more to help others. To raise money for charities & causes that desperately need it.
