Blogger Recognition Award

I was recently nominated by the lovely Burnished Chaos for the Blogger Recognition Award. I am genuinely honoured for being nominated because it makes me feel that people actually care, and occasionally actually read what I write! Of course that's not why I do it, but it does feel good!
The Rules
* Thank the blogger who nominated you & provide a link to their blog
* Write a post to show your award
* Give a brief story about how your blog started
* Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers
* Select 15 bloggers you want to nominate
* Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated, with a link to the post you created.

How Whimsical Mumblings Started
Whimsical Mumblings officially started 7 years ago! That's crazy! When I first created a blog it had a complete different, totally random name 'Hedgehog Corner'! Who knows why, I have no idea. It was pretty cringey, amateur and I didn't really have a clue what I was doing. The only people that read it were my two cousins who I literally told to read it. Haha. Of course I didn't really write it for anyone else, but it was a nice place to start. Then I grew up, had children and Whimsical Mumblings was born. New & revamped.

My Advice To New Bloggers
Don't start a blog expecting to make money. Let alone expecting to make money quickly. I feel like it's a common misconception that writing a blog is an easy money making idea, but it's not. Unless you are talented, popular and a fantastic writer, it'll take you a while to get established, and if you plan to - eventually earn money.

Secondly, write what you want. Don't write what you think you should. Just start writing and enjoy it. You'll soon discover what you want your blog to be able, and it's important for others to see the real you. Your writing, your ideas, your voice. Don't just follow the crowd or copy others.

My Nominations

"If you have already been nominated or don't want to take part, that's fine. This is just me giving recognition for the amazing jobs you all do with your blogs"
