The Laugh Out Loud 2017 Book Awards

The Laugh Out Loud Book Awards(or Lollies) are hosted by Scholastic, celebrating the funniest childrens books of the year. The winners are decided by children, and the shortlist is decided by Michael Rosen, Katie Thistleton and Nicolette Jones.  Have you read any of them with your little ones?
The awards are divided into 3 categories - Best Laugh Out Loud Picture Book, Best Laugh Out Loud Book for 6-8s &  Best Laugh Out Loud Book for 9-13s.

For the picture book catergory the shortlisted books are OI Dog! (I bought this for my little guy for his birthday, and I have to say, it is hilarious! Eat Your People, Prince Of Pants & Danny McGee Drinks The Sea.

We were given the opportunity to review a couple of books from this category - Eat Your People & Danny McGee. They are such good books & definitely hilarious.

Eat Your People is about a little monster family. The son does not want to eat his dinner! Perfect story for your little monsters who will not eat up their vegetables! Monty the monster will gladly eat up all his veggies, but he will not eat his people!

Danny McGee Drinks The Sea is another great book. My little girlie loves the story &  the pictures. It's about a little boy who tries to drink the sea and when he succeeds he sets his sights on anything & everything else! The ending is so funny, and quite a surprise!

As I said above, I also purchased Oi Dog for my little boy's birthday and we love it so much! It's the sequel to Oi Frog which we havent actually read yet, but I've heard great things about. Oi Dog is really different, and the ending makes me laugh everytime!

The nominations for Best Laugh Out Loud Book for 6-8s are Thimble Monkey Superstar, Hamish and the Neverpeople, Eddy Stone and the Epic Holiday Mash-Up & Future Ratboy and the Invasion of the Nom Noms.

And the shortlisted books for Best Laugh Out Loud Book for 9-13s are I Don’t Like Poetry, The Best Medicine, My Gym Teacher & AniMalcolm.
