The Christmas Tag!

I do love a good tag post! It's a great way to get writing and helps you to get to know each other a little. So what better way to get into the festive spirit than doing a Christmas themed tag! I'm 99% sure this will be my last post of the year, as I'm closing up shop and taking some time off for Christmas! It might be nice to actually spend some time with The Husband in the evenings! Haha. All the panicking and worrying has calmed down a bit. I've got one more present to wrap and then that's it! I can sit back, relax, make some Christmas crafts with my little ones and patiently await the big day! Thank you very much Mummascribbles for the tag, and I hope you enjoy reading! Merry Christmas!

What's your favourite Christmas movie?
Muppets Christmas Carol! It's the best Christmas movie of all time! You have to agree. I mean, even if you don't really like The Muppets, you've still got to love it! After that it's definitely Love Actually - I have a tradition of watching this every year when I'm wrapping up. And I have to mention The Santa Clause. It's an amazing film and I need to make time to watch it this year!

Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Yes! A few years ago, maybe 2010? It snowed a lot over Christmas but it was also really icey so I was worried we wouldn't be able to see anyone, but luckily we could. It's a shame it hasn't happened since as my little ones are yet to see real snow.

Where do you usually spend your holiday?
We have a tradition of visiting my family on Christmas Eve. We all get together and have this huge party. With games, delicious food & it's the only time of the year we all get together. (There is a lot of us now!) For the past few years we've been spending Christmas Day at home. Just my husband and our little ones. If I'm honest, I wouldn't want it any other way. I love it. On Boxing Day I see my Dad and my siblings and we tend to just eat good food & play games & do quizzes!

What is your favourite Christmas song?
Shakin' Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone! It's such a classic Christmas song, and it really reminds me of my childhood. When I was in primary school and we were doing our Christmas school play, it was the last song of the play and we all just had to dance to it. It was the last school play I ever did, and I remember how happy I was! It's just a really nice memory. Also for some strange reason, I am really obsessed with the Feliz Navidad Christmas song too though at the moment! Haha.

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
Not main presents no. It really drives me crazy when people open them on Christmas Eve! That's not the point at all. Even when relatives come over to drop off presents and want you to open them, and they want to open theirs - just no! Saying that, during our Christmas Eve get together, we do share little gifts with each other called under the tree presents. They are literally only small little token gifts for one another, but it's a nice tradition.

Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?
I'm sure this is from a movie (maybe The Santa Clause, or Miracle on 34th Street? I can't remember) but because of it, I'll never forget the names! Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen! Oh and Rudolph!

What holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?
Well I do absolutely love Christmas Eve. It's the one day of the year I actually get to dress up! It's always a fantastic day. And I can't wait for Christmas Eve night as my little girlie is so excited this year, it feels like she finally understands the magic, and keeps reminding me we have to save a carrot for the reindeer! Haha. But most of all I can't wait for Christmas morning. When the little ones come running into my room, waking me up when it's still the middle of the night, all excited. Seeing their happy faces as Santa has brought atleast a couple of things they've asked for, and much more!

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
It's fake. I must admit, since I left home I've never had a real one! I'd love one one day, when we have a bigger home and our little ones are older. But for now, a fake one will do. I don't mind at all. (I know my husband does though, he moans about it every year! Haha) But with FOUR cats and two little ones, a real tree would definitely end in disaster.

What is your favourite holiday treat/food/sweet?
I do love candy canes if i'm honest! I'm not a huge fan of desserts, and I really don't like mince pies or Christmas puddings - but my favourite holiday treat (or all round treat) is chocolate! In particular the strawberry & orange cremes from the Quality Street tub! Haha.

What is the best present you have ever received?
If i'm being totally honest, I really can't remember one specific gift. I never really asked for a huge amount when I was little, and I've never been disappointed at not receiving anything. (I do remember one Easter though, I just really wanted a pet rabbit! But we're talking about Christmas!) I loved the year when I got a bike though. My parents had put it all together and wrapped it up with a big bow!

Where is your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
Honestly, I dont really like the idea of going away for Christmas at all! Christmas is about children, family, spending time with loved ones so I don't want to be far away from everyone! Saying that though, I'd love a wintery holiday (just not over Christmas)! If you've watched The Holiday, you know the cottage where Kate Winslet lives? That's where I want to go. No, that's where I want to live!

Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?
A bit of both! I'm definitely not a pro, and I always use way too much tape just to make it look presentable, but they normally turn out ok. I can't deal with all the fancy bows and tags though! Saying that, if the gift is anything but square or rectangle shaped - I'm doomed!

Most memorable Christmas memory?
From my childhood, the one where I got a bike was really great! After moving out I had a few really awful Christmas that i'd like to forget. Including being homeless and eating pot noodles for Christmas dinner! I'm all about making new memories with my little ones now!

What made you realise the truth about Santa?
I think my parents told me. I pretended I already knew, but really I was dying inside. I was so upset!

What makes the holidays special for you?
Being able to see all my family together! It doesn't happen that often. Spending quality time with our little family, doing things together as a family that we just don't make time for normally. It's just really lovely. Not to mention seeing my little ones faces on Christmas Day!

I'm now going to tag Coffee Cake Kids, The Growing Mum, Southern Mummy, The Homemakers Journal & Back With A Bump to join in too! Merry Christmas Everyone!
