What To Do In Somerset This Easter 2018

There are plenty of fun Easter events going on in Somerset this year! I thought there was loads on last year, but there seems to be so many fun events and activities this year, starting now! So wherever you are, and whatever you fancy doing, on any budget - there's sure to be something here you'd love! 



Good Old, Fun Filled Easter Egg Hunts!

Let's start with the good old, classic Easter Egg hunts - and there are plenty to choose from this year, wherever you are and whatever the weather!

Kilver Court in Shepton Mallet has their own Easter Egg hunt on this year! Explore the beautiful gardens in search of 9 decorated Easter Eggs using the clues, and if you discover them all - you'll be rewarded a delicious chocolatey treat! {10am - 4:30pm Good Friday to Easter Monday, £2.50 per child which includes one accompanying adult}

Use the clues and follow the Easter trail around the stunning Springtime gardens at Hestercombe Gardens in Cheddon Fitzpaine, and you'll win a chocolate treat at the end! {10am - 5pm 24th March - 8th April, £1.50 per child}


Or why not head to the gorgeous Bishops Palace in Wells and follow their Easter trail around the huge gardens. Once you've completed the trail, head to the shop for your chocolatey prize! {10am - 6pm, starting 24th March, included in admission price, children under 5 go free}

Cadbury and National Trust have once again combined forces to host a number of fun-filled Easter Egg hunts this year! Following Easter Bunny's clues, to go on an adventure and be rewarded with a delicious chocolate treat when you finish! Perhaps you want a different sort of Easter Egg Hunt?

If you or your little ones are fans of The Wizard of Oz, be sure to head to Forde Abbey in Chard this Easter! Follow the yellow brick road through the beautiful gardens, with Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow & Lion - in search of some delicious chocolatey treats, but watch out for the Wicked Witch Of The West! A unique, fun-filled interactive trail, great for the whole family! {10am - 4pm 30th March to April 2nd, normal admission rates apply}


The Easter Bunny has stopped by Cheddar Caves this year! Follow the trail through the mysterious Gough's Cave and spot the delightful array of glow in the dark Easter eggs! Keep your eyes peeled, and you might even spot the magical golden egg! {All Day 24th March - 8th April, Admission included with Explorer ticket}

What about some Easter crafts & activities?

Head down to Hestercombe Gardens and your little one can create a delightful pop-up Easter Card! Or if your little ones fancy it, they could make their own Easter stamp & print with it! {10am, 11:30am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm - Card Making 27th March & Stamp Making 3rd April.  Booking recommended. £2 per child, normal admission rates apply}

Join in Make It Monday sessions throughout the Easter holidays at Bishops Palace! Families can take part in a fun variety of Easter-themed activities including card making, daffodil windmills and crafts using Spring flowers! {26th March & 2nd April 10:30am - 3pm, included in admission prices}


How about allowing your little ones to embrace their inner scientist and get eggs-perimenting at Safari Tots in Somerton! Join in with the fun, interactive and messy Easter themed slime & science workshop! {26th March 10am, 11am, 2pm & 3pm. £7 per child, booking required}

Visit your local Wyevale Garden Centre and have breakfast or tea with the Easter Bunny! Enjoy a tasty meal, go on a bunny hunt and tuck into some tasty treats! Your little ones can even decorate your own Easter biscuit, and they'll receive a cute cuddly toy too!  {19th March - 15th April £10.95 per child}

If you are looking for a little something different...

Choo Choo Choose to head to the East Somerset Railway in Shepton Mallet for lots of fun Easter activities or ride the miniature railway! Children travel for free if they bring their teddy! (accompanied by one paying adult) {30th March - 2nd April, see website for ticket prices}

How about a fun-filled, family friendly day at Secret World in East Huntspill? There will be loads of fun activities and games to get involved in, and you can even learn about and visit the resident animals & even bugs too! {30th - 31st March 10am to 4pm. Free Entry but donations welcome}

Enjoy some Springtime fun at The Willows & Wetlands Visitor Centre in Stoke St Gregory! Let your little ones take part in an exciting Children's Willow Workshop, browse the delightful range of handmade crafts and food stalls or explore the exciting Easter Willow Sculpture trail! {31st March 11am - 4pm Free Entry, Sculpture Trail is £1}

Come & meet the infamous Peter Rabbit at West Somerset Railway in Minehead this Easter! Enjoy a 20-mile steam train ride, free face painting, crafts & even a woodland themed egg hunt. Plus Peter Rabbit will be making appearances throughout the day! {31st March 10am - 4pm Access to train station is free, visit the site for train ticket prices & booking}


Perhaps you'd fancy visiting the Easter Egg-Stravaganza at Wookey Hole in Wells! With loads of fun & games, over 20 attractions to enjoy, and an egg hunt, your little ones are sure to enjoy every minute! Plus a free Easter gift for every child. {23rd March to 15th April 10am - 4pm, included in admission prices}

 If you are looking for more of a village fete vibe, be sure to head to Mells Daffodil Festival! With a huge variety of street stalls selling food, drink, arts & crafts, gifts, Bric a brac and even clothing! There are loads of events of too including children's games, a dog show, tug of war and even live music! There's so much to see and do at Mells Daffodil Festival this year. {Easter Monday 11am - 5pm £3 per adult, £1 for under 16's}
