Why Valentines Day Is For Everyone ❤️

Why Valentines Day Is For Everyone

Oh Valentines Day. One of the most over commercialized and materialistic holidays there is. It used to be a day about simply celebrating love, and now it's all about the importance of having a partner and someone to be able to treat, and be able to mutter to how you "don't want anything" but you secretly want everything. A huge, cringy ott card, expensive red roses, overpriced chocolates, champagne, and if you're extra lucky, a romantic meal out for two.

It's materialistic, it's unrealistic, and for many, it's disappointing. If you don't have a partner, or you don't have a particular romantic significant other you are bound to feel disappointed when it feels like everyone else is being spoilt on Valentines Day, but not you.

Don't get me wrong, I was totally one of those people. Who expected so much, and when they didn't get enough, or anything, were disheartened and disappointed. It's difficult when all these perfect gifts are shoved in your face every year. "The perfect way to show your partner just how much you love them". "Spoil your Valentine this year". Shops and companies encouraging you to spend your life savings on one single day. One single day that is no more important than any other. I mean, if you truely love someone, showing them how much you care shouldn't just be an annual thing, but a daily thing, am I right?

So over the past few years, since having my eldest I suppose, I've decided to change things, and I encourage you to do so too! I'm standing my ground and stomping my foot down proudly and saying "VALENTINES DAY IS FOR EVERYONE".  Absolutely everyone. Whether you are married, single, divorced, a parent, a grandparent, a best friend, a friend, or perhaps you mostly enjoy your own company - Valentines Day is for you.

Valentines Day is a day for love. It's about showing your loved ones just how much you care, as you should any other day of the year, but if you are keen on celebrating it this year, celebrate it with everyone!

Make Valentines Crafts With Your Children
I've got a few ideas here, and you could even make them a homemade card and remind them how special they are.

Let Your Friends Know How Much They Mean To You
Have a good catch up with a cuppa, scoff all the biscuits, give them a flower or two and tell them just how amazing they are to you.

Speak To Your Parents
Tell them how grateful you are for everything. They love you more than anything in the world, and they dedicated their life to you. Sometimes, parents need to be reminded how loved and appreciated they are.

Spend Quality Time With Your Partner
No need to go over the top with overpriced gifts when all you really need is some quality time, some catch up time being grown ups, best friends, partners in crime.
Treat Yourself

If you feel you are not making yourself a priority, now is the time to show yourself some love. Looking after yourself is hugely important, so take this time and treat yourself. Whether it's a hot bubbly bath and a book, a new film and a box of chocolates, or even a new haircut and a hot coffee. You are amazing, and you deserve to be treated.
