Autumn To-Do List (2024)

Autumn To Do List, Autumn Bucket List

Autumn is finally here, and I’m so excited to share my family’s Autumn To-Do List with you!

As the days get shorter and the air feels crisper, I always find myself falling back in love with this season. There’s something about cosy jumpers, warm drinks, and the sound of leaves crunching under your feet that just feels magical. Plus, it’s the perfect excuse to slow down and enjoy some quality time together as a family.

Every year, we like to sit down and make an autumn bucket list – a mix of family traditions, new adventures, and simple moments that make the season feel extra special. It’s become one of my favourite rituals as a mum, especially with how fast life moves these days. There’s nothing quite like intentionally planning for joy and then actually following through with it (even if it’s just something as simple as making hot chocolate together).

Autumn To Do List, Autumn Bucket List

For us, autumn is all about balance. We love getting outside, exploring nature, and making the most of all the seasonal activities – but we also lean into those slow, peaceful moments at home. Whether it’s visiting the pumpkin patch or curling up on the sofa for a cosy movie night, we’ve got a list of things we can’t wait to check off together.

This year, I wanted to focus on being present and savouring the small things. It’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of mum life and forget to really enjoy these fleeting moments, especially as the little ones grow so fast. So, I’m sharing our list with you in hopes that it will inspire you to create your own version – whether it’s packed with adventures or just a few quiet, meaningful activities that bring your family together.

From baking autumn treats and going for a woodland walk, to kicking through leaves in the park and make Autumn themed crafts, we’re ready to dive headfirst into all things autumn!

Autumn To Do List

Collect Pinecones & Conkers
This is such a simple but satisfying activity, perfect for getting little ones excited about nature. There’s something magical about hunting for pinecones and shiny conkers during a crisp woodland walk. Plus, they are my absolute favourite Autumn decorations!

Dress Up For Halloween
Because, of course! For the past few years, we've always done a family theme. We did The Incredibles, Plants vs Zombies, Harry Potter and The Avengers. We've already got this years planned and I can't wait. It's going to be hilarious!

Go For A Woodland Walk
Nothing beats the beauty of a woodland walk in autumn. The changing leaves, the earthy smell, and the peaceful atmosphere.

Carve Pumpkins
Pumpkin carving is messy, creative, and loads of fun!

Make Autumn Crafts
Crafting together is a lovely way to spend a cosy afternoon, especially when the weather’s too chilly to be outside. Pinecones, leaves, and conkers can all be turned into creative masterpieces!

Drink Fancy Hot Chocolate
Hot chocolate becomes a whole experience in autumn. Top it with whipped cream, marshmallows, or a sprinkle of cinnamon, and it’s like a warm hug in a mug.

Watch Fireworks
Remember, remember the 5th of November. It'll soon be Bonfire night!

Decorate For Halloween
Transforming the house with pumpkins, cobwebs, and string lights builds the excitement and makes the season feel extra special.

Watch Spooky Movies Together
Watching spooky (but family-friendly) movies is such a great way to embrace the Halloween spirit without leaving the comfort of your home. If you need some family friendly ideas, I've got you!

Go On A Halloween Day Out
We are planning on visiting a few National Trust places, particularly those that have Halloween themed activities going on! The perfect way to get some fresh air, spend time together, embrace the beautiful season and get in a Halloween mood!

Bake A Spooky Treat Together
Halloween-themed baking is not only fun but delicious! From decorating spooky cupcakes to making ghost-shaped cookies!

Watch All The Harry Potter Movies
There’s something about Harry Potter that just feels right in autumn. We have this funny tradition as a family. We watch Halloween movies up until Halloween, then we watch The Greatest Showman, and then we watch all the Harry Potter movies leading up till December when it's Christmas movie time!

What’s on your autumn bucket list this year?
