Homemade Baby Safe Paints

I wanted to start doing more creative things with my little ones throughout each week, so last week we decided to do some painting! Our littlest has never done painting before, and was so excited! Actually allowed to dip her hands in things and wipe it everywhere! Haha.

I know you can buy Baby Safe paints, or washable poster paints, but I decided there must be an easier way to make my own, and there is - made from items I expect you already have at home!

Homemade Baby Safe Paints

Although many parents don't like the idea of messy play, or trying crafts with your children - messy play is hugely beneficial for children. (I mean you knew kids were messy before you had them right? Haha). The trick is to keep the messy activities to one area, and pop an apron on your little one and you're good to go. The clean up is bound to happen, so just try to contain the mess!

Messy play provides children with a fun, educational sensory experience that helps inspire their curiosity, and explore the world around them, as well as enhancing their learning and creativity!

So it's time to let your little ones' creativity flow and embrace the mess!

For the Baby Safe Paints you will need:
* 1/2 Cup Cornflour (cornstarch)
* A few drops of various food colouring
* 2 Cups Hot Water
* 2 Tbs Sugar

1. Mix the cornflour, gradually adding the water.

2. Once they are mixed well, and the mixture isn't floury, stir in the sugar until it dissolves. (You might need to add a bit more flour if it becomes too runny)

3. I recommend sharing the mixture between different pots, and adding the colouring to each one. You really only need 1 or 2 drops.

4. Make sure you cover your little one, and cover surfaces to! Although it shouldn't permanently stain, these paints do contain food colouring!

5. Hand your little one lots of painting utensils and paper and let them go wild!

I'd love to hear if you try this recipe, let me know what you think!

Oh this sounds like a good recipe for paint, I want to paint more with my toddler and want something safe for her to use.
