I am an official Netflix addict. I can easily go through a series every night, and I like to watch all sorts of different things. Movies, Netflix Originals, TV Shows. Some of my favourite things to watch lately have been Bates Motel, American Horror Story & more recently, Gerald's Game - but they are all a tad..creepy. Don't get me wrong I love watching creepy things, but afterwards, and probably for a few days I like to watch something nice. Something happy, a program that will distract you from being freaked out and will make you laugh. So I'm sharing some of my favourite feel good things to watch on Netflix. I highly recommend them all!
First up is the series I've watched most recently, and in all honesty, I put off watching it for a while because I wasn't sure if I'd like it - but I loved it! Grace & Frankie is an unexpectedly lovely show about female friendship. I love everything about their characters, and how different they are to each other. I have to say the male actors annoyed me a tad, but Grace & Frankie are the stars of the show - and they're amazing.
I remember watching Gilmore Girls on tv when I was younger, it started off being one of those things you just leave on in the background, but I soon became a bit obsessed and set a sky reminder (haha) whenever it was going to be on. I've loved catching up with it now it's on Netflix!
Another unexpected gem I found recently was L❤VE. I don't know why I didn't watch it sooner, and for the first 10 minutes or so, I didn't really know what to make of it. But it's amazing, hilarious and relatable. Then I found out it was made by Judd Apatow, and his movies are some of my favourites so it's no wonder I loved this! My OH has recently binge watched it too after my recommendation.
I don't know why more people haven't watched Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt! It's definitely one of my favourite things I've watched this year and I'm not entirely sure why. It's a happy, vibrant, silly, ridiculous and hilarious show that you all should watch whenever you need a pick me up!
Freaks and Geeks is a classic. I was SO excited when I discovered it a few years ago, and have recently rewatched now it's on Netflix. It was the first, or one of the first things Judd Apatow ever did, so it has a similar sort of vibe, but a very 80's/90's vibe. It stars very young James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jason Segel & Busy Phillips. It's just such an iconic show, you need to watch it.
Atypical is a heartfelt, warm, yet emotional show about a teenage boy on the autism spectrum. The characters are played really well, and the storylines are spot on. Definitely a well thought out and meaningful show to watch. I loved every second.
And now for something completely different, and a way to escape everyday life through fairy tales. I loved Once Upon A Time from the very first minute I watched it. Disney, Fairy Tales & amazing actors - what more could you want? It's so magical and exciting. I love it!
GirlBoss was such a good show, I was SO annoyed when it got cancelled after one series. It's all about girl power, and working hard to get what you want, it's empowering as well as being totally relatable. Definitely worth a watch (even though they'll never be anymore boo).
Now for something incredibly British, if you have the same sort of sense of humour that I do - I definitely recommend watching a bit of Miranda! She is hilarious and totally bizarre, just the kind of thing you should watch if you need cheering up. It's relatable, quotable and ridiculous - what more could you ask for?
Aww good old Gavin & Stacey. It seems we have a bit of a tradition in our house, we like to binge watch Gavin and Stacey when Christmas is on its way - I don't know why. No matter how many times you watch the show it's still funny though. The characters are genius, definitely worth a watch. (I can't believe you haven't watched it already!)
Last but not least, a little hidden gem previously on BBC Three - Him and Her. About a lazy, hilarious 20 something couple - who are just lazy..and hilarious. Just watch it, please. I can't explain it very well. Hahaha.
Have you watched anything feel good on Netflix recently?
