I remember the very second you were born. I wasn't prepared for how I would feel, no one can prepare you for that. It's a special, incredible but unique feeling when you hold your baby for the first time. I remember the second you arrived, and I could think of nothing else but waiting for that first cry. I was saying "Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god!" I just couldn't believe this was real, that you were really here. That I was now a parent and you were here in my arms wriggling and rooting.
The first few weeks were tough. You wouldn't sleep in your basket, so we didn't sleep either. I couldn't figure out when I was supposed to shower or anything, I just wanted to be with you, and you just wanted to be with us constantly. You wouldn't sleep if you were put down, you just wanted to be held. At the time it was hard work, but I don't blame you at all. You wanted to feel safe and secure, and you were. My beautiful little baby.
You were the sweetest little monkey growing up, and at only 18 months you became a big sister to your little brother. The most amazing big sister in the whole world. You cared for your brother from the very second we brought him home, and have done ever since. Now you have a younger sister too and you are just as sweet and caring as before.
When you started nursery at 2 years old, I really didn't want you to go. You didn't want to either for a while, but soon enough you absolutely loved it and it really helped shape you into the confident, kind little girl you are today.
At 4 years old you started school, and it was tricky for all of us. But from the very second you walked into the school door, you made me the proudest mum in the world. Confidently greeting your teachers and your friends. And it seemed within the blink of an eye you'd grown up so much.
And now you're 6. You, my beautiful sweet first baby. (You hate it when I call you that now, "my baby" but you'll always be my baby). You've blossomed into this kind, thoughtful, crazy, adorable, wonderful, silly, inspiring, creative, incredible girl. You make me smile every day, you make everyone around you happy and I couldn't be prouder of you. You are one amazing little girl.
Happy 6th Birthday Beautiful. I love you to the moon and back. xxx
