7 Self Care Ideas That Cost Nothing

I'm sharing a few little self care ideas today that are totally and completely free, plus not too time consuming either. Try one, try two, try them all, but try them often. Looking after yourself should always be high on your list of priorities, and don't forget it!

Have A Bath
If you asked my husband, he'd say a bath solves everything, and although it might not solve all your problems there's a reason why a good old bubbly bath is many people's go to self care idea.  Baths can stimulate hormones to help rebuild cells and speed recovery aka soothe sore muscles, act as a natural decongestant, detox your body through sweating. Not to mention providing a moment of quiet, comfort and cosyness. So run a hot, bubbly bath and go all out. Use that special bath bomb you've been saving, add those bath salts you received for Christmas and light some candles. Baths can help you unwind after a long day, warm up on a chilly day or relax ready for bed. A good bath can work wonders for your mood too!

Pamper Yourself
It can goes alongside the first idea, but really go all out and pamper yourself. You could start by having a relaxing bath and use a luxurious body lotion afterwards. If you're feeling super fancy, pop on a cotton robe and headband and make yourself a detoxing drink. Perhaps you could try giving yourself a facial, using a face mask or painting your nails.

Dress Up
Spend a little extra time on your appearance, not for anyone elses benefit just for yours. Take a little extra time doing your hair, or your make up. Wear something you've always thought was a little too fancy for every day. Every day is a fancy day! Taking a little extra time can do wonders for your mood and your confidence.

Watch A Feel Good Movie
There's nothing like lounging on the sofa, under a blanket with a warm drink and watching a good film! I've got a big list of movie ideas here, you're sure to find something you haven't seen or forgot existed and will give you a warm feeling in your heart, and a big smile on your face!

Eat Chocolate
This absolutely had to be on here didn't it? I mean it's not 100% free if you haven't got any at home, but you can grab a chocolate bar for 25p so it's totally worth it. If you don't fancy leaving the house, perhaps you could whip up a batch of chocolate cupcakes or some sort of tasty dessert! Not only can eating chocolate feel like you are really treating yourself, but it also has genuine health benefits too!

Read A Few Chapters Of A Book
Making time for yourself is really important, so why not make the most of the time and get really engrossed in a good book! Reading is a fantastic hobby to take up, and it doesn't matter what book, or genre you read as long as you are enjoying reading it! Reading has genuine health benefits too from reducing stress to improving your sleep habits!

Take A Nap
Last but not least, one of my personal favourites at the moment - having a snooze! Many of us don't get enough sleep throughout the night, so taking a quick 15-90 minute day during the day can really work wonders. It gives your more energy, gives your body a chance to recharge and continue on with your day with more energy. Unless you have more than enough sleep at night, a quick day nap can be amazing!
