Why you need to take more naps - wellness wednesday

Have you heard? Naps aren't just for babies. Can you honestly tell me that you get enough sleep every night? Studies show that over 35% of adults get less than 7 hours a night, when we really need 7-9 hours. 

Babies, toddlers, and children (if they're in the car! ;) ) often take a little afternoon nap whereas adult naps are far less common. Personally, the only time I do take a nap is if I've been burning the candle at both ends and I'm overwhelmed and exhausted! It's not a daily occurrence by any means. 

There's absolutely no need to feel lazy or unproductive for indulging in a power nap! A short nap early afternoon can have big mental and physical health benefits!

What you need to know:
* Take a nap early afternoon - any later and it'll mess with your sleep pattern (we all know about the danger naps for children, same thing works for you!)

* Make it short and sweet - between 10-30 mins max. If you nap for too long, you'll end up in a deeper sleep and you'll just feel groggy when you wake up.

* Give yourself a few minutes to wake up properly.

The health benefits
Sleep plays an important role in storing memories and keeping you from forgetting things. Sleep helps you to focus, be more productive, ease stress, lower blood pressure, boost your creativity, become more alert and have quicker response times - plus taking a power nap can really help boost your mood and make you feel happier in general.
