For the first instalment of Tiny Homestead Living, I was talking about how I've been planting herbs anywhere (obviously researching what the different herbs need first, though!). I've got basil and mint growing in a windowsill - they are not doing great, the soil was too soggy and ended up covered in gnats - so I've repotted and we're persevering!
I've got Rosemary & Lemon Balm growing in my front garden (I've had them both for a good few years now though, and they're still going strong!)
Over the past few months I've planted some chives and parsley in the little alleyway by my house, it has quite a lot of indirect sunlight, and they do seem to be thriving! I've chopped them down a little so I can dry them inside.

Tiny Homestead #2 - Attempting Fruit & Runner Beans
Moving onto to today's post, I've been attempting more complicated things, don't get me wrong, not overly complicated, just harder than grabbing a herb plant from a supermarket and sticking it in soil!
I've got a runner bean plant growing (which was part of my children's homeschool science topic) and it's got a lot of flowers on it, so fingers crossed!

I picked up a discounted strawberry plant, and a discounted blackcurrant plant from the supermarket over the weekend, so we'll see how they get on too.

I also forgot, I've got a lovely little apple tree growing in the garden - about 6 years old now!

Lastly, I decided on a whim today as I was chopping up fruit, that I'm going to give growing a pineapple a go, as I had two pineapples to chop up. Currently letting it dry(?) for a few days before popping it in water. We'll see what happens, if nothing happens, I haven't lost anything so it's worth a try!
So right now, I've got;
* Mint
* Basil
* Chives
* Parsley
* Lemon Balm
* Rosemary
* Apples
* Strawberries
* Blackcurrants
* Runner Beans
* and Pineapples all on the go!
Wish me luck!
