Naked Nutrition Chocolate Protein Powder Review

Naked Nutrition Chocolate Protein Powder Review

AD | Gifted product

Lately I've been trying to make some healthier choices. Nothing dramatic, just eating a bit better, cutting down on processed foods where I can, and trying to lose a bit of weight whilst still feeling strong and energised.

One thing I've realised is that I probably don't eat enough protein. I'm often rushing around, skipping breakfast, grabbing whatever is easiest for lunch, and then wondering why I'm hungry again an hour later.

So I started looking at protein powders. The truth is I’ve had protein powders for a while now, but its generally been the first one I’ve seen, so I’ve never before looked into the ingredients or anything - it’s just been more of a convenience ‘top up’ sort of thing. The problem was that every single one I looked at seemed to contain a huge list of ingredients. I found myself reading the labels and thinking, "What even is half of this stuff?"

Then I came across Naked Nutrition.

What immediately caught my eye was how simple it was. The Chocolate Whey Protein Powder contains just three ingredients:

  • Whey protein

  • Coconut sugar

  • Cacao

That's it. No long list of additives. No artificial sweeteners. No ingredients I can't pronounce. As someone who is trying to simplify what I eat, that was a big selling point for me.

I should probably point out that I'm not a gym person. I like to go for a run every now and then, but that's about as sporty as I get. I've mostly been having a shake as a midday pick-me-up or before heading out for a run. It's been a really easy way to get some extra protein into my day without having to think too much about it.

I've just been mixing it with milk in a shaker bottle and giving it a good shake. No fancy smoothies. No protein pancakes. No complicated recipes.

I chose the chocolate flavour. I am a chocoholic and will always choose chocolate hahaha

If you're expecting something that tastes like a chocolate milkshake, you'll probably be disappointed. It's much more subtle than that.

Personally, I quite liked it because it didn't have that overly sweet taste that a lot of protein powders seem to have. It tasted more natural and less like I was drinking a dessert. It also mixed really well. I've tried protein powders before that were gritty or left horrible lumps floating around. This one was smooth and easy to drink.

Honestly, the biggest thing for me was how it made me feel. Some protein powders I've tried in the past have left me feeling bloated afterwards. I didn't get that with Naked Whey. It felt light, easy to drink and easy to digest, which made me much more likely to actually keep using it.

Now for the honest bit. I really liked this protein powder. I genuinely did. However, it isn't cheap.

The 2lb tub costs $44.99 and the larger sizes cost even more.

You can buy it as a one-off purchase or sign up for a subscription, and there are different sizes available depending on how often you use protein powder:

  • 1lb tub (around 12 servings)

  • 2lb tub (around 24 servings)

  • 5lb tub (around 60 servings)

I completely understand why it costs more than some other brands. The ingredients are simple, the quality is good, it’s not full of nastiness and you're not paying for lots of unnecessary extras.

But as a mum with bills to pay and children to feed, it's probably not something I could justify buying regularly. That said, I can absolutely see why people do.

Overall, I really enjoyed trying Naked Nutrition's Chocolate Whey Protein Powder.

I loved the simple ingredient list, I liked that it wasn't packed with artificial sweeteners, and it was easy to fit into my day. Most importantly, it felt like a product that matched the way I'm trying to eat these days: less processed, less complicated and with fewer unnecessary ingredients.

Would I buy it every month? Probably not because of the price.

Would I buy it again as a treat or recommend it to someone looking for a simple protein powder? Definitely. Sometimes simple really is best.
