June always feels like the beginning of something new. The cold wintery days are gone, the 'spending most of the time indoors' days are over. It changes the rhythm of our family life and our homeschool days. The mornings are less harsh, it actually feels pleasant to wake up in the morning - the evenings are brighter, the magic stays around for a little while longer each day. Learning can now happen barefoot in the garden, not sat at the dining table.
Something that I always like, and definitely feel we should all try to embrace more, is the change in seasons. The routines, the adventures and activities that can be had. This time of year is perfect for more gentle learning, easing off as the Summer holidays will soon be here, spending time doing more creative activities that don't feel so much like education.
I thought I'd start putting together a little list of homeschooling ideas for each month - a way to embrace the seasons, get creative and enjoy nature with your little ones. Pressing wildflowers between book pages, painting with watercolours, folding paper boats and spotting shapes in a cloud - all feel so...whimsical.

Designing a treasure map with tea staining, learning how to make animation, or even creating a summer bucket list encourages children to think more intentionally about how they'd like to spend their Summer. June feels like a little release of pressure and expectation, less...rushing.
June doesn't need elaborate plans, sometimes you just need a few creative ideas, a little sunshine and to allow your selves to slow down a little!
